When the family failed to come out late Friday morning, a neighbour peeped through their window, saw bodies, and alerted others. They broke down the door to discover the horror. And when I say horror, I mean horror. The photos are really graphic so please be warned.
Residents of the community are blaming the family's deaths on lack of power in the area. They claim the last time they had light was 3 years ago, that every house in the area uses a generator. They said they have called on the government many times to help them with light but their efforts have yielded no fruit
Nigeria! Nigeria! Nigeria! No light for 3 years, avoidable deaths! Sooooo sad :(
ReplyDeleteLooks more like ebola
DeleteThat there was no electricity supply does not mean that they should keep a working generator inside their room! Pls let's educate those who don't know the danger it poses. *anya_o2003@yahoo.com*

ReplyDeleteI don't understand. They all seem to have been awake when they died. Is it possible to be awake and not know you are choking to death. Keeping generators outside can never be over emphasized in this country, i don't know how some people still don't that it kills, with so many past incidents around the country. You bring in your generator after turning it off. may their souls rest in peace and may others learn.
ReplyDeleteLord have mercy!
ReplyDeleteMay their souls rest in peace. ######QUEENMAYA#####
ReplyDeleteNigerian Government what are you doing? Why can't we have stable electricity supply in 2014. May all of you that have stolen money meant for reforming the power sector or those preventing the development of the Power sector due to selfish interests die worse deaths than this. This is so painful and sad.
ReplyDeleteOMG, this is serious. I just don't know wat to say. May their souls rest in peace.

ReplyDeleteOh Jesus! Government failure. This is not Jonathan but all the Northern past leaders who kept this country behind for over 37 years they ruled. If we had people like Jonathan 20 years ago light would have been a thing of the past.
ReplyDeleteLinda this pathology does not look like asphyxiation, it looks eerily like Ebola, seriously. They should be very careful and at least test for it and hopefully rule it out first.

ReplyDeleteOMG...This is really sad. People need education about the dangers of generator fumes indeed. SMH
ReplyDeleteWe need oxygen to stay alive. And its the blood that carries oxygen to various parts of the body. Generator fumes contain a dangerous gas (carbon monoxide). This gas is colourless and odourless. When inhaled, it binds to the blood instead of oxygen binding to the blood. When this happens, the blood carries it to all parts of the body. Repeated inhalation leads to death.
NB: Vehicle fumes contain this dangerous gas as well.
Lord have Mercy! May their souls rest in peace.
ReplyDeleterip to dem all!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteThis is just unfortunate, May their soles rest in peace, but come to think about it how could a man by a generator and just because of thieves leave it on inside the apartment? this is crazy. that means they were enduring the fumes before they finally fell asleep. This man just wasted his generation with a generator.

ReplyDeleteThey bought the gen on tuesday. Conneted it on wednesday evening and used it fir time wednesda night. We did't dicover the bodies until Saturday morning.

ReplyDelete###########GOD punish devil################
Dis looks more lk ebola, 2morow u people will say that fashola is working.....rubbish
ReplyDeleteThey died from carbon monoxide poisoning leading to lack of oxygen for the body's use. This has been a sad, recurring problem in the nation for years. Many are not educated on the implications of having electric generating sets within their rooms. There should be constant health education at the wards and local government levels on this problem! Every local government has a health department headed by a supervising counsellor. There should be a regular health warning on TV, radio, newspapers etc. Even with these sets outside the houses emitting so much fumes, what are the long-term health implications?
ReplyDeleteAll the people who are involve in the electrical black out in Nigeria must suffer a million times more of these type of problem AMEN.
ReplyDeleteBlood of God!!!
ReplyDeleteIgnorance very deadly disease. Rip family
ReplyDeleteMy concern now is what will happen to the generator?
ReplyDeleteThe lack of information is a major problem in Nigeria.
Lord have mercy, but the last picture looks like an ebola case. May their souls rest in peace
ReplyDeleteDis is more dan generator fumes o wetin be dis? Dis is serious o

ReplyDeleteOoooooh! Sooooo sad. I think there should be awareness on how not to use a generator. This death is avoidable but look at what ignorance has caused.
ReplyDeleteThis is really disheartening, may their souls R.I.P.
ReplyDeleteBut people have been warned not keep their gen indoors ke? R.I.P to the dead.
ReplyDeleteI am sure is poison
ReplyDeleteLinda pls stop posting dead bodies pictures on your blog.. It's not fair to the people, it's privacy intrusion.. How do you expect their family members to feel ? There's no law against it in Nigeria, doesn't make it the right thing to do .. I lost a very close friend and I saw his body on your blog... How heartbroken and devastating it was for his family and friends .. Pls stop .. God forbid, if something happened to your family member, would you post their dead bodies on you blog for views? Or would you like if you see them on another blog? ..
ReplyDeletePls think about it ..
Marie
Generators are not supposed to be in the room, they release carbon monoxide which combines with haemoglobin to form a more stable compound than oxygen does. It is also odorless, so these people would have died in their sleep not knowing they were dieing at all. This is why education is important, so unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteThis is outrageous! May their soul rest in peace. What a pity! May God Almighty help every soul living in poverty!amen.
ReplyDeleteTo everyone who refuses to give us power or is associated with the darkness that has befallen our nation, the blood of these ones is on you.
ReplyDeleteYou will know no rest until you #LIGHTUP9JA
but this keeps happening, why do people still have to make such mistakes when we read it in the papers daily , even if they don't know, was there no neighbour to as least warn hem of the danger of keeping a gen set close. the looks of the injuries looks like they've been poured hot water, well I don't know anymore. so so sad
ReplyDeleteDis is so bad oooo...bt d fact dah dey dnt av lite 4 3yrs is a very big fat lie..ipoyewa jst got there transformer nd dah was last year...dey do av lite..let's drop d crap of no lite 4 3yrs ..I live within d area
ReplyDeleteOkay, I think they have to educate these people when they buy these things. It should be a rule that they are told that YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO KEEP THIS INSIDE THE HOUSE. They have to be notified how deadly it is...
ReplyDeleteMay their souls RIP!
Only that these people dont look like they died in their sleep.
ReplyDeleteIgnorance is deadly.
ReplyDeleteHmm does seem like the fumes had something other than carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide death does not present with such physical symptoms.
ReplyDeleteY on earth will some bring gen close to his huz nt to talk of inside d huz
ReplyDeleteMay their gentle souls rest in perfect peace
ReplyDeleteNo light is not an excuse for this kind of stupidity.......how many times have we heard stories about not putting generators in the room and some people will not learn......I pity the children cos the adults should have used their common sense.......if u can't guarantee the safety of the gen outside then put it off b4 taking it inside.....
ReplyDeleteGenerator fumes contain CO (carbon monoxide) this combines with the little oxygen in the room and forms CO2 and then they were inhaling the CO2 which was like breathing in the same gas that they were breathing out.... So sad! It would have been better if the generator was stolen. Lord please help my country....
ReplyDeleteThis is sad....R.I.P
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThis is pathetic!!! What a story.. chaaaiiii!!! May there soul rest in perfect peace.... all the same, we should try and educate ourselves much more on the usage of Generator.. We shouldn’t be ignorance of this anymore... we've heard several stories of generator fumes suffocated peeps to death, we should try and learn.
but he shouldnt have left the generator in his house now. This is really sad
